The teenager accused of shooting San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall during an attempted robbery in San Francisco has been charged with three felonies, including attempted murder.
The 17-year-old defendant was charged with assault with a semiautomatic handgun, attempted second-degree robbery, and attempted murder, according to SF District Attorney Brooke Jenkins’ announcement Tuesday night.
The shooter is due to be arraigned in juvenile court on Wednesday afternoon, however the suspect may eventually face adult charges.
Jenkins also stated that he will seek to have the suspected shooter imprisoned since the teenager endangers public safety.

Of course, the alleged encounter occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in Union Square, just a few hours after Pearsall participated in an autograph signing event nearby.
Pearsall was shot in the chest during the altercation, but the bullet (which exited Ricky’s back) did not strike any major organs, according to his mother, who provided a health update.

The Niners wide receiver was shown on film (somehow) walking himself to a neighboring ambulance before being taken to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.
In terms of his comeback to football, the team has placed Pearsall on the Non-Football Injury list, which means he will miss at least four games. According to 49ers general manager John Lynch, Ricky is doing “really well” and has already returned to the squad.
It is uncertain when he will return to in-game action, but the team does not intend to rush him back.
