According to authorities, a guy in Sydney woke up to discover his wife had stabbed his three children in the middle of the night.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that on Monday, March 31, a 47-year-old lady is accused of stabbing her three sleeping children, ages 10, 13, and 16, before their father intervened by taking away the knife and phoning the police.
According to the publication, Detective Superintendent Naomi Moore said in a statement, “He went to approach the situation after waking up to what I would assume were a number of screams and yells, and from what I am told, has secured the weapon, and he’s contacted police.”
The woman was charged at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital after she reportedly stabbed herself in the abdomen.

The woman was charged with three counts of injuring or severe bodily harm to a person with intent to murder, according to a news release issued by New South Wales Police on Monday.

When emergency personnel arrived at a residence on Jamieson Avenue at approximately 5:20 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, they discovered a 47-year-old lady, a 10-year-old child, a 13-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old girl with stab wounds.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics treated them at the scene and transported them to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Westmead Hospital, where they remain in a stable condition,” the authorities continued.

The announcement went on to say, “The Hills Police Area Command officers set up a crime scene and started an investigation.” “The woman was charged with three counts of cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder after inquiries were conducted.”
The 10-year-old child reportedly suffered two stab wounds, the 13-year-old girl three stab wounds, and the 16-year-old paraplegic girl one stab wound and additional injuries, according to the Sydney Morning Herald and Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Moore stated, “This is probably completely unexpected.” “Police have never before responded to this residence for any kind of domestic issue.”
The mother had been acting “erratically” prior to the attack, the detective claimed.
“We believe the father and the children were all in their rooms, and potentially all asleep when the mother has carried out this act,” she told ABC.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Moore went on, “It’s tragic.” “My employees and I definitely don’t want to wake up to that on a Monday morning. My initial thought this morning was, “Have we dealt with this family before?” We take our obligation to address domestic violence in the Hills very seriously. What did we do? We haven’t dealt with this family previously, which is unfortunate, and I only wish we had.

“Perhaps if we had known there were issues in the home, we could have gotten in touch and assisted this family sooner,” she added.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that a neighbor called the family “quiet.”
The father was standing there, looking very composed. After running back inside to get a bag, I watched him emerge and board the ambulance with his family. “I see him the most,” they remarked.
Another neighbor went on to say, “They’re generally really nice people.” The family often kept to themselves, but “they come over for Christmas and give us chocolates, and we give them treats for their three kids,” the statement continued.
According to the release, police stated that the woman has been denied bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court on April 1 for a bedside hearing.
