Four months after Apple Intelligence was unveiled, the company’s generative AI offering is now available to the public.

The platform will be available on an unannounced day next week as part of the public release of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1. Most speculations point to a Monday launch for the operating system updates.

Apple Intelligence has been made accessible to users of the aforementioned operating systems’ developer beta versions. These include integrated writing tools, picture processing, article summaries, and a typing input for Siri’s revamped interface.

On Wednesday, Apple started distributing out the developer versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2. These upgrades will provide further Apple Intelligence enhancements such as Genmoji, Image Playground, Visual Intelligence, Image Wand, and ChatGPT integration.

A limited number of devices will be able to run the generative AI capabilities, which Apple attributes to hardware restrictions. Apple Intelligence needs one of the following. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, all iPhone 16 models, iPads with an A17 Pro chip (including the new iPad Mini) or M1 and later, and Macs with M1 or later.

After downloading the software update, users must opt in to utilizing Apple Intelligence during setup or later in Settings. They will then be added to a “wait list.” Most inquiries should be processed within a few hours. The list’s function is mainly to get Apple’s servers in a row, since some requests need off-device processing.
