Love may not “cost a thing” for Jennifer Lopez, but divorce certainly does.

The “My Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer filed for divorce from Ben Affleck last Tuesday, following months of speculation that their relationship had ended.

The power couple married for the second time in Georgia exactly two years before Lopez filed.

In June, People magazine reported that Lopez was residing in the couple’s 38,000-square-foot Beverly Hills house while Affleck stayed in a neighboring rental as they tried to sell the expensive mansion. The two paid $60,805,000 for the estate in May 2023 and marketed it early this month for $68 million.

“He started moving out a while ago,” a source told Fox News Digital at the time. “The marriage is officially finished, and Jennifer is sad. She loves love and desperately wanted this to work.”

Lopez did not say in Tuesday’s filing, obtained by Fox News Digital, whether she and Affleck had a prenuptial agreement.

According to reports, Affleck and Lopez did not have a prenup when they married in 2022, but celebrity divorce attorney Christopher Melcher told Fox News Digital that he was unwilling to make any decisions on asset split.

“Jennifer was not required to disclose on the court forms whether she entered into a premarital agreement with Ben, so no conclusions should be reached about the existence or non-existence of a prenup,” according to his statement. “It would be par for the course for a couple like this to have a premarital agreement in place.”

He went on to say, “Although this marriage lasted barely two years, the parties have significant wealth, which complicates the divorce process. They can safeguard their privacy by reaching an agreement on all aspects of their separation.”

However, if allegations are correct that the former couple did not have a prenup, their $68 million mansion, which is currently on the market, as well as the earnings they have generated from their job since they married, might be considered common property.

Since their marriage, Lopez has produced “Shotgun Wedding,” “This is Me…Now,” “The Mother,” and “Atlas,” while Affleck has produced “Hypnotic,” “Air,” which grossed over $90 million globally, and “Kiss the Future,” “Small Things Like These,” and “The Instigators.”

According to Forbes, Lopez’s net worth as of 2020 was expected to be $150 million from her music, movies, and fashion, fragrance lines, and JLo Beauty, while Affleck’s wealth was estimated to be $55 million.

According to the New York Post, their wealth have increased significantly since their marriage, with Lopez being earning roughly $400 million and Affleck worth $150 million.

Lopez also debuted her Delola Cocktails collection last year and is a brand ambassador for Intimissimi lingerie and Coach.

According to People magazine, Affleck and Matt Damon co-founded Artists Equity in 2022, which produced Lopez’s “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” as well as Affleck’s “Air” and “The Instigators.”

“Ben has been working nonstop and spending a lot of time at his office,” an insider told Fox News Digital of Affleck’s post-breakup activity. “He is working on several projects that he is very excited about. He is very hands-on with his company, Artists Equity. He truly wants to keep focused on directing, acting, and producing.”

Lopez’s “This Is Me… Now” album was published earlier this year, and the former couple collaborated on “Unstoppable” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” both produced by Artists Equity, according to People.

The pair was previously engaged but cancelled their wedding 20 years ago. Affleck married Jennifer Garner in 2005, and they separated in 2018. They have three children together.

Lopez married Marc Anthony in 2004, but the couple split in 2014. They have 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max. Lopez has two previous marriages before her engagement to Affleck in the early 2000s.
