Tyrese Gibson is discussing a difficult time he had as a child… disclosing a strategy devised by his mother to aid with the family’s expenditures.

The musician sat down with King Gillie for a new interview, where he admitted that his mother, Priscilla Murray Gibson, forced him to pretend to have special needs when he was approximately 8 years old so that they could collect a large Social Security payment.

Specifically, the ‘Fast & Furious’ star said Priscilla forced him to “play r*ed” in order to receive an additional $762 from the government to help his hardworking mother sustain the family.

Watch the video. Tyrese seemed unconcerned by the deceit, as he laughs while repeating the event, referring to the payout as “government cheese.”

Tyrese considered the untruth as his “first acting gig,” while King Gillie’s cohost Wallo referred to Priscilla Tyrese as his “first director.”

Tyrese’s statement has already elicited varied emotions from fans, who have criticized and complimented the actor for it. Some criticized Tyrese for using “the R word in 2024,” while others expressed concern that he could face repercussions for now stating the truth.
