Jon Bon Jovi is unsure when he will be ready to tour as he recovers from vocal cord surgery.

The Bon Jovi vocalist, who had vocal surgery in 2022, revealed in a recent radio interview that he is still recovering from the procedure and may be unable to tour in support of the band’s upcoming album Forever.

“I don’t know about a tour,” he said on Mix 104.1 Boston. “It is my desire to do a tour next year, but I’m just still recovering from a major surgery.”

He then added, “Although I’m well on my way to recovery and was able to take my time and do a song a day when I made the record, my need, want, and desire is to be able to do two-and-a-half hours a night four nights a week for months on end.” And thus I’m working toward that aim.

During a panel at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in February, the Livin’ on a Prayer singer revealed that he had surgery because one of his vocal chords had “literally atrophied”.

He added, “Your vocal chords are meant to appear parallel, or let’s say that they are as thick as a thumb – one of mine was as thick as a thumb and the other as thick as a pinky. So the powerful one was pushing the weak one away, and I wasn’t singing well.”

The 62-year-old joined the panel to promote the band’s upcoming docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which will air on Hulu/Disney+ on April 26.

Their new album, Forever, will be released on June 7.
