Regina King is now speaking out about her son Ian’s death, expressing through tears that she respects his decision to end his life and reflecting on her own pain.

The actress/director appeared on “Good Morning America” and discussed Ian’s untimely death in 2022, as well as her difficult journey in the following.

RK describes loss as love without a place to go, and she is attempting to honor her son for everything he is — she even uses the present tense because she believes Ian is always with her. King adds that she hasn’t had time to simply sit with Ian’s choice, which she understands because he clearly didn’t want to be here anymore.

Regina believes her favorite part of herself was being Ian’s mother, and she ultimately needs to respect the journey while still questioning herself about what she could have done better as a parent.

As previously reported, Ian Alexander Jr., King’s sole son with ex-husband Ian Alexander Sr., committed suicide on his 26th birthday in January 2022.

Regina noted at the time, “Our family is deeply saddened by Ian’s death. He is a shining example of someone who genuinely cares about the happiness of others. Our family requests that you be considerate during this special time. “Thank you.”

Ian was a frequent guest on Regina’s red carpet, even declaring King a “Super Mom” on the 2019 Golden Globes red carpet and penning a poignant homage to her on her 50th birthday in 2021.

Regina appears to be taking the next significant step in her path, while Ian is plainly on her mind.
