The Academy Awards have finally ended for another year, and what a spectacular the 96th edition was.

While there wasn’t as much drama as in past years, such as Will Smith and Chris Rock’s memorable slapping incident, the 2024 Oscars were nevertheless entertaining.

This year had it all, from John Cena’s shirtless appearance on stage to Al Pacino’s wild slip-up.

Many of Hollywood’s prominent faces, including Jamie Lee Curtis, attended the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (March 10), as they do every year.

Curtis won Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Academy Awards last year for her portrayal in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The actor competed against Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Hong Chau (The Whale), and co-star Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once) for the prize, but came out on top.

And she returned this year to present the prize for the category she won the year before.

However, the Halloween star did not stick around for long.

I believe we’ve all felt this, but Curtis chose to leave the ceremony early owing to a fast food hunger.

The 65-year-old took to Instagram and wrote: “FLY IN [check emoji]. Get Fluffed and Folded [check emoji] Present at the Oscars [check emoji]. Go to @inandout_burger. [Check Emoji] Fly away.”

Along with that, the star shared photos of her burger, fries, and soda from a fast food establishment that she had picked up at the drive-through.

While the film star’s appearance at the Oscars was brief, Curtis made a striking statement on the red carpet with her choice of dress.

Regular Oscar viewers will be well aware that the red carpet and the numerous A-list participants’ attire are as important as the main event itself.

And the Freaky Friday star impressed both those in attendance and the many millions watching at home by wearing a long-sleeved black gown by Dolce & Gabbana.

However, there was a specific reason, which Curtis commented on in an Instagram post.

Curtis captioned a photo of herself on the red carpet: “I’m wearing a gold cuff with a diamond-encrusted copy of the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

“The statue was revered at a temple dedicated to her.

“Cathy Waterman first saw her at the top of the steps in the Louvre as a teenager, and it had a profound impact on her.

“It showed her that there was a vast unknown universe out there, inspiring her to explore ancient history.

“What an inspiration she’s been for Cathy and It’s my great honor to wear her to the Oscars on my wrist!”
