Ty Dolla $ign resorted to social media to protest about what he sees as a lack of marketing for his new album, ‘Vultures 1’, with Kanye West.

Kanye posted an Instagram Story video of Ty Dolla $ign going through the Apple Music app, checking out top shelf selections. He quickly flips through several pages of albums, but Vultures 1 is never shown on the carousel. “We never had anything in New Music,” Ty tells the camera. “And we never had Best New Songs,” he goes on to say.Vultures 1 appears on only one Apple Music chart: Top Songs.

The album opened at number one on the Billboard 200 list and held that position for a second week. However, the record has been plagued by problems even before its release. Last year, Digital Music News revealed that the rap duo were looking for a distributor for their record. It was released earlier this year, but Apple removed the album after the distributor published a public statement.

“Late last year, Fuga was offered the option to release Vultures 1. We declined to do so while exercising our judgment in the ordinary course of business,” the statement reads. “On Friday, February 9, 2024 a long-standing Fuga client delivered the album Vultures 1 through the platform’s automated processes—violating our service agreement.”

Apple later re-released the album, but not without a disputed tune for which the rap duo is currently being sued. The song “Good (Don’t Die)” had an unlicensed Donna Summer sample, which prompted her estate to object and later file a copyright infringement case. The estate issued a statement declining Kanye’s request to sample Donna Summer’s song “I Feel Love.”

Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj and Ozzy Osbourne declined to allow samples of their songs on the album. Ozzy objected to the usage of a “Iron Man” sample in a live performance listening party for the album earlier this year.

Kanye West came under fire in 2022 for a series of antisemitic remarks he made on social media, including a threat to “go death con 3 on Jewish people.” The rapper’s erratic diatribe cost him his billion-dollar Adidas contract, while revelations about his long-standing abuse of Adidas staff emerged, including other anti-Semitic slurs.
