Two men have been found guilty of murdering Run-DMC’s Jam Master Jay, putting an end to one of hip hop’s longest-running cold cases.
A jury in Brooklyn Federal Court convicted both defendants Ronald Washington and Karl Jordan Jr. guilty on Tuesday, less than a month after the trial began.
Jay was killed down more than 21 years ago on the evening of October 30, 2002, when prosecutors claimed Washington and Jordan both ambushed him at his studio over a botched heroin deal, with Jordan killing him at close range with multiple rounds to the head.

Jay Bryant, the third defendant, will be tried at a later date after being implicated in the murder.
According to investigators, Bryant left an article carrying his DNA at the site, indicating that he was the point man who allowed Washington and Jordan entrance to the studio to murder the hip hop icon.
Attorney General Merrick Garland dropped the death penalty before the trial, although both men face at least 20 years in jail.
