Elton ceased touring to spend more time with his sons and wife.

At his final gig on July 8 at Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena, he declared, “I’ve had the most incredible career.

“Fifty years of sheer enjoyment playing music. How lucky am I? But I would not be sitting here talking to you if it weren’t for you. You purchased the singles, CDs, albums, and cassettes…More importantly, you purchased tickets to the shows. You know how much I enjoy playing live. It has been my lifeline to play for you all. You have been just fantastic.”

It is the second highest-grossing tour of all time, after Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’, which grossed more than $939.1 million.
