Mickey’s Mouse Trap, a teaser for a Mickey Mouse horror film, was released on YouTube on Monday, when Steamboat Willie, the first iteration of the Disney character, became public domain.

When Walt Disney’s copyright expired, Mickey was not the only character who received the horror treatment. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, a horror film, was released in 2022, and the parody novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was released in 2009.

We just wanted to have a good time with it all.” I mean, it’s Mickey Mouse from Steamboat Willie murdering people. It’s ludicrous. “We ran with it and had fun doing it, and I think it shows,” the film’s director, Jamie Bailey, said on YouTube.

Alex is trapped working the late shift at an amusement arcade on her birthday, according to the plot synopsis. Her pals intend to surprise her, but a killer dressed as Mickey Mouse transforms their night of fun into a fight for survival.

Mickey’s Mouse Trap is set to hit theaters in March.
