The top non-performing songwriter, Jon Brion, and top artist-songwriter, Tyler The Creator, were revealed by the NMPA as the top Gold & Platinum songwriters for Q3 2023.

Including the top artist-songwriter and top non-performing songwriter for the third quarter of the year, the top songwriters have been revealed by the National Music Publishers’ Association (NMPA) Gold & Platinum Program.

With 17 certifications, Tyler, The Creator was the most successful artist-songwriter overall. 1,793 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum certifications were given out in the months of July, August, and September. Among his certifications were the Double Platinum “NEW MAGIC WAND,” the 4X Platinum “See You Again,” and the 5X Platinum “EARFQUAKE.” His music is distributed by Sony Music Publishing.

With nine certifications for tracks including the Mac Miller recordings “Small Worlds,” “Ladders,” “Hurt Feelings,” and “Come Back to Earth,” which are all Platinum-certified, Jon Brion was the highest-paid non-performing songwriter. Kobalt is the publisher of Brion.

NMPA President & CEO David Israelite states, “Hip-hop dominated Q3 with huge showings by Tyler, The Creator and Jon Brion.” “Tyler’s remarkable track record of certified tracks is evidence of his creative approach. It gives us great pleasure to see Jon honored for his extensive work with Mac Miller; his honors will surely continue even in his untimely death. Jon’s compositional accomplishments demonstrate the lasting impact of his work. Many congratulations to these amazing artists.

This month, in addition to their permanent sites in New York City, Los Angeles, and London, Tyler, The Creator’s fashion business, Golf Wang, debuted twelve Christmas pop-up shops. On December 2, the makeshift locations in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia opened.

Austin, Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix, and Washington, DC are among the US sites. Amsterdam, Berlin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Melbourne, and London saw the opening of international stores. A later time will be announced for a site in Seoul.

Parts of the FW23 collection, which consists of clothing and accessories as well as an airbrushed graffiti artwork on t-shirts, fleece pullovers, jackets, and accessories, are available in the stores. Vinyl versions of Tyler’s discography and items from the brand’s Essentials Collection are also available at the pop-up shops.
