It has been announced that Anthony Anderson will host the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Emmys will be held at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater and broadcast on Fox, according to Variety. After the recent strikes that have affected the entertainment sector, Anderson expressed his delight about things getting back to normal.

“We can return to what we love—dressing up and valuing ourselves—now that the recent issues facing our industry are behind us. And the historic 75th Emmy Awards are the ideal celebration to unite the creative community, Anderson stated in a news statement. “I was thrilled that Taylor Swift couldn’t host this historic telecast when Fox asked me, and now I can’t wait to be a part of the biggest night in television.”

Regarding Anderson’s new position, Fox Entertainment’s unscripted programming president, Allison Wallach, also shared her thoughts. She said the reason they chose Anthony was because of his hosting responsibilities on the new show We Are Family.

Wallach stated, “We knew Anthony would be a perfect fit for a star-studded, exciting night like the Emmys after he hosted our upcoming show We Are Family.” Anthony is well-known for his passion, humor, and spontaneity, so he’s sure to provide spectators with an unforgettable evening both at home and in the theater.

“Anthony is a gifted performer with many talents and a wonderful friend of the Television Academy.” TV Academy chairman Frank Scherma added to the official release, “We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year’s outstanding television as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence.”

Anthony Anderson hosted an Emmy for the last time in 2019. Even though Fox lacked a host that year, Anderson nevertheless served as a type of co-host. Homer was crushed by a piano during the opening ceremony, which was heavily attended by The Simpsons.

“How in the world was that?” The audience responded to the comedian. Then, as a makeshift MC, he stepped up to “save the Emmys.”

On January 15, 2024, at 8:00 PM EST, the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will be televised live.
