Although Halloween has passed, certain cinephiles are only now becoming acquainted with the film that has been deemed the “best horror film of the year.”

Talk To Me, which debuted in 2022, has recently garnered renewed interest due to its availability on streaming services during the eerie season.

In the film, which also stars Kit Erhart-Bruce, Sophie Wilde, Ari McCarthy, and Hamish Phillips, among others, a group of friends attempt to invoke spirits.

It probably goes without saying that conjuring spirits is not a good idea, but if you were contemplating it, you should view the film to see for yourself the potential repercussions.

While several sequences contribute to the film’s terrifying effect, one scene in particular encapsulates precisely why critics have deemed it the year’s finest horror.

Upon viewing the film, you will undoubtedly recognize the specific scenario that I am referring to: Riley’s possession.

The occurrence transpires subsequent to the character Mia, portrayed by Wilde, having previously encountered a possession and appearing to have recovered unscathed.

However, subsequent events transpire in a frightful and dramatic manner when Mia permits Riley to become possessed by the embalmed hand that they have been employing in order to invoke spirits.

Riley begins repeatedly hitting his head against the table, which renders the entire scene visually distressing and difficult to observe.

Critics have lauded the film, particularly the possession scene, with one viewer remarking, “Talk To Me is absolutely fantastic.”

“Undoubtedly, the most suspenseful sequence occurred when Riley became possessed due to the rapid descent of s**t, but the entirety of the film was eerie.” “I have not been this enthralled by a horror film in quite some time,” they continued on X.

A different enthusiast stated: “if anyone needs a good halloween scary flick – Talk to Me on netflix just really did me in.”

“Talk To Me is an incredible film. One of the most inventive and groundbreaking atrocities I’ve witnessed in recent years, manipulating possession in an entirely new way. “Absolute,” a third user declared.

The film has also been met with acclaim on Rotten Tomatoes, where it has amassed an impressive 82 percent Audience Score and 94 percent Tomatometer.

Additionally, The Movie Podcast’s Anthony Gagliardi deemed the film “twisted, terrifying, and the best horror film of the year.”

Danny and Michael Philippou, brothers and directors, were inspired to create the feature-length film Talk To Me after a brief version of the film went viral on the internet.
