Leslie Jones has said that her buddy Chris Rock sought therapy after being slapped by Will Smith at the 2022 Academy Awards.

Jones told People about her memoir, which has a prologue written by Rock, and stated, “That shit was humiliating.” It had a significant impact on him. People must comprehend that his daughters, as well as his parents, witnessed this. He had to go to therapy with his daughters.”

Jones, who has known Rock since the mid-1990s, was “infuriated” by the Oscars slap, adding, “You don’t know that I was going to jump in my car and roll up there.” On so many levels, I was enraged.”

“Chris Rock did a fucking joke,” Jones went on. “I also know Will… You couldn’t handle that garbage after that, I said. This is the Academy Awards. “Everyone on the planet is watching.”

Smith slapped Rock onstage at the Oscars event in March 2022 after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith apologized to Rock, resigned from the Academy, and was barred from attending Academy activities for ten years as a result of the incident.

Smith later apologized on YouTube in July 2022, calling his behavior “unacceptable” and saying, “I just didn’t realise, I wasn’t thinking about how many people got hurt in that moment.”

Sean Penn recently criticized his peers’ reaction to the slap, questioning why they rose up and applauded Smith’s Best Actor award for King Richard later that night.

“I’m not familiar with Will Smith.” “I met him once,” Penn revealed to Variety. “When I met him, he seemed extremely kind. He was fantastic as King Richard. So, why did you just spit on yourself and everyone else with this ridiculous fucking thing?”

Penn said, referring to his time in prison for assaulting a guy in 1987, “Why did I go to fucking jail for what you just did?” And you are still sitting? Why are you standing and cheering his worst human moment?”

Rock has made jokes about the Oscars slap during many stand-up appearances since the incident, including one with Dave Chappelle.
