The premiere of The Little Mermaid has become one of the most watched films on Disney+.

According to a press release issued by Disney on Monday, the live-action musical starring Halle Bailey was the most-watched Disney movie premiere on Disney+ since Hocus Pocus 2 in 2022.

The Little Mermaid premiered on Disney+ on September 6 and received 16 million views in its first five days.

The picture debuted in theaters in May and had a great theatrical run, becoming one of the top five highest-grossing films of the summer in the United States, grossing about $300 million.

The Little Mermaid is a live-action remake of the 1989 animated picture of the same name by Disney.

Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Noma Dumezweni as Queen Selina co-star with Bailey as the mermaid Ariel.

Disney+ will also feature the Disney-Pixar animated film Elemental and the supernatural horror comedy The Haunted Mansion.
