In ‘The Beast,’ Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to play the role of US President.

The 74-year-old actor will co-star with Joel Kinnaman in the first major project announced for the Toronto International Film Festival.

The picture was packaged prior to the beginning of the Hollywood actor strikes, and it has an interim arrangement with SAG-AFTRA to complete pre-production.

The title of the film alludes to the presidential limousine known as ‘The Beast’ by the Secret Service. The vehicle is armed with grenades, shotguns, armour plating, and bombproofing.

When a hostile militia plots a coup against the US, the president (Jackson) learns about The Beast’s highly classified capabilities.

Separated from his wife, the president must manage The Beast – and the monster within him – in order to save his life, the life of Secret Service agent Taft (Kinnaman), and the life of his country.

James Madigan, who has worked on films such as ‘The Meg’ and ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,’ is directing from Umair Aleem’s screenplay.

It is not the first time Jackson has played the US president on the big screen as he also did it in the 2014 movie ‘Big Game’.

The ‘Snakes on a Plane’ star has never won an Academy Award, but he believes that a deleted scene from ‘A Time to Kill,’ a 1996 film in which he plays a man on trial for killing two white men who abducted and raped his daughter, cost him the Best Supporting Actor award.

“My first day working on that film, I did a speech in a room with an actor, and the whole f set was in tears when I finished,” Samuel told Vulture. ‘All right,’ I said. I am on the correct track.’

“That s*** is not in the film!” And I understand why it isn’t. Because it was not my film, and they were not looking to make me famous.”
