Jake Paul’s boxing career is on the line this weekend as he returns to the ring in Texas to face ex-UFC fighter Nate Diaz.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer lost his bout against Tommy Fury earlier this year on a split decision, his first loss in his career.

Now, Paul’s business partner and counselor, Nakisa Bidarian, has informed ESPN that if he loses to Diaz, he may quit.

“His boxing career is on the line, in terms of being one of the top three or four guys in the entire sport globally,” said Bidarian.

“I think if he loses, he’ll just be another prospect who comes up in the ring.”

Paul turned refused a rematch with Fury, 24, in order to face Diaz, 38.

“Nate has a massive name, he’s a massive pay-per-view draw of the UFC times, and to me that’s exciting,” he said of his decision, according to The Sun.

“I haven’t fought a massive pay-per-view draw in their prime while they’re still hot and active.”

“So, to me, that’s super exciting, and there was that beef and this online back and forth that we’ve been trying to and wanting to fight for a long time.”

“Then the stars finally aligned.”

Paul genuinely attributes this fight to his loss to Fury.

“After losing to Tommy, I landed myself a bigger name and a bigger fight in terms of ticket sales, the commercial pay-per-view,” he explained.

“Everything points to this being the biggest event ever, which I didn’t think was possible after losing to Tommy.”

“It all depends on how you go out,” she says. If you’re going to be knocked out, but lose by a split decision in a war and a good fight, it’s a lot easier to bounce back from.”

Saturday will be a profitable night for both Paul and Diaz, whether they win or lose.

Both guys will earn ‘far into the eight figures’ for the bout, with over seven figures coming from the event’s sponsors alone.

“On August 5th, we commemorate Nathaniel Diaz’s funeral by returning him in casket to Dana,” Paul wrote on Instagram upon announcing the fight.

“At the service, refreshments will be served. “Black Tie Required.”
