According to a new rumor, Gigi Hadid was detained for marijuana possession while on vacation in the Cayman Islands.

The model was traveling with her friend Leah Nicole McCarthy when customs authorities examined their luggage upon their arrival at the airport on July 10, according to Cayman Marl Road.

The scan prompted officials to conduct a more extensive check of the couple’s luggage, which resulted in the discovery of marijuana and “utensils used for the consumption of ganja.”

Hadid, 28, and McCarthy, 29, were detained on suspicion of ganja importation and ganja consumption utensils importation, according to the source.

Both women were brought to the Prisoner Detention Center for processing before being released on bail.

On July 12, Hadid and McCarthy stood in Summary Court and pleaded guilty. They were both fined $1,000 and a recorded conviction was avoided.

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in NYC with a medical license,” Hadid’s rep said in a statement released to E! News on Tuesday.

“It has also been legal in Grand Cayman for medical purposes since 2017.” Her record is still clean, and she had a good time on the island the rest of the time.”

The “Next in Fashion” co-host didn’t seem to mind her brief stint in jail, as she shared several photographs from her tropical vacation on Instagram.

In one set of photographs, Hadid flaunted a massive dragon tattoo on her hip, which she photographed while wearing a little bikini.

McCarthy, too, looked unaffected by her criminal activities, sharing risqué images of the group sunning on the island.

She captioned the photos, “Leafy love.”

McCarthy’s birthday trip appears to be the reason for the group’s excursion.
