TikTok may launch an online retail store in the United States as soon as next month.

TikTok’s own range of products — supplied by Chinese manufacturers — would be included in the in-app shopping section, allowing the company to compete directly with Amazon, Shein, Temu, and other big e-commerce platforms.

According to Semafor, TikTok’s new online store will offer products such as toys and kitchen appliances, among other items, within the platform, as well as a dedicated e-commerce tab under TikTok Shop, an existing feature where merchants pay a commission to sell their products on the app.

TikTok did not reply quickly to a request for comment.

The company announced last week that it is testing a “Trendy Beat” retail option in the United Kingdom, with products sold and distributed via a Singapore-based company owned by TikTok parent ByteDance. Although TikTok initially maintained that the new e-commerce product was not being tested in the United States, TechCrunch discovered that the business had previously filed a trademark registration in the United States for Trendy Beat, indicating that the feature is likely to be expanded to the app’s U.S. edition.

In the United States, TikTok’s e-commerce business is still in its early phases. Since last November, the business has been testing TikTok Shop, which has yet to acquire substantial popularity. This is most likely why TikTok took so long to test Trendy Beat in the US market.
