With His America's Got Talent Audition, An Electrician-Turned-Music Instructor Astounds The Judges

With his rocker audition, an electrician-turned-music-teacher swept the judges away on America’s Got Talent.

John Wines, from the United Kingdom, had the audience on their feet with his fantastic guitar talents, and he could not believe the response.

The 59-year-old revealed that he left his job as an electrician 20 years ago to become a teacher, teaching students aged five to 18 and claiming that they “keep him young.”

Before commencing his performance, he told America’s Got Talent judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara that he “could not believe he was there.” Look at this:

However, both the audience and the judges were perplexed as he connected his electric guitar and prepared for his big solo.

Despite their reservations, he swiftly achieved epic rocker status, as they were soon on their feet, applauding along as he ripped through Queen’s ‘We Will Rock You.’

Even Cowell applauded the former electrician’s talents with a thumbs up in the air.

Wines was clearly overwhelmed after the massive guitar solo, as the crowd in front of him stood screaming and cheering, and the judges gave him a standing ovation.

Cowell confessed that he was’surprised’ by the ‘average’ and’sweet’ appearing man.

Wines was driven to tears as he told the audience that they were “so kind,” while they chanted, “We want more.” He even had to turn around in surprise at the overwhelming enthusiastic reception to his performance.

“That was so much fun to watch,” Vergara added. You never imagined yourself as a teacher; did you ever picture yourself as a rockstar?”

“It is the most nerve-racking thing I have ever done, but it is also the most exhilarating,” Wines said. “My legs are giving out.”

In just 24 hours, the 59-year-old’s guitar shredding has received over one million views on YouTube.

But his rocker talents are no surprise; he has 1.3 million followers on TikTok as ‘Old Grey Guitarist’.

“He used to be my guitar teacher in school!!” says one commenter on his YouTube audition. I am overjoyed to see him on AGT; he deserves it all!! I shall be eternally grateful to him for what he has taught me.”

“When a guitarist makes ‘that’ face during a lick… you know he is got good hands,” one said. Congratulations, John Wines; you are a hero to all of us!”

“Felt like I was at a rock concert,” stated another. “Keep it up, buddy.”

Of course, despite admitting he was “waiting for the red Xs,” Wines received the judges’ “holy 4 yes.”
