The tenure of Shannon Sharpe as Skip and Shannon: Undisputed’s host is now complete. At the conclusion of the June 13 program, Sharpe expressed gratitude to the whole FS1 staff and spoke glowingly of his time spent working with Skip Bayless.

“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you. You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You’ve allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car, but I’m not going to cry now. The opportunity that you gave me, to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. One more thing before you go, Skip. One more thing. All I ask, is when you lay your head of that pillow at night, know I gave you everything I had. I gave you everything I had.”– Shannon Sharpe

Sharpe gave a monologue explanation for his absence and said he disagreed with Skip’s post. Despite my disagreement with the tweet, I hope Skip would remove it from his Twitter account.

Time out — I am not taking anything down because I stand by what I tweeted, Skip would say in response.

After a little back-and-forth, Shannon referred the discussion to the show is moderator so that it may continue.

According to TMZ, Shannon opted not to watch the Tuesday broadcast because he was “upset” with Skip Bayless’s offensive Damar Hamlin tweet, in which he questioned why the NFL would postpone a critical game so late in the season. The article continued by saying that the network is unsure if Sharpe will report for duty on Wednesday.

The next Tuesday’s broadcast gave Bayless the chance to repudiate his statements and clarify his motives.

The Post adds that Sharpe’s association with LeBron James—whom Bayless pursues obstinately—also played a role in the departure.
