Carrie Underwood, A Huge Fan Of Axl Rose, Will Perform Before Guns N' Roses

Carrie Underwood will open for Guns N’ Roses at their Nashville show in the summer of 2023, after she magically convinced Axl Rose to join her onstage at Stagecoach 2022 and again at her L.A. headlining gig earlier this year.

Last summer, Underwood performed onstage with Guns N’ Roses alongside Slash and Duff McKagan in London, and it’s a safe guess that she’ll do the same in Music City.

Underwood will also perform at Geodis Park in Nashville, and she will serve as the opening act for Guns N’ Roses at two Canadian concerts. Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders have been confirmed as openers for a number of dates, including the recently announced PNC Park show in Pittsburgh. Additionally, Los Angeles rockers Dirty Honey, grunge icons Alice in Chains, and Mexican sibling trio the Warning have been announced as openers for select shows. The band largely reunited in 2016.

In her own concerts, Underwood frequently performs renditions of songs by Guns N’ Roses, whose lead singer she openly admires. She told Rolling Stone in 2022, “I’ve been covering Guns N’ Roses my whole life, pretty much, and definitely onstage for the past 15 years at least,” adding that she had learnt to sing by imitating Rose. I was the type to choose challenging singers to try to sound like, and his voice has always captivated me. I was wondering how he managed to accomplish all of that.

Prior to their March performance of “Welcome to the Jungle” with Underwood in Los Angeles, Rose had not performed with Underwood live since 2010. In addition to their summer headline tour, Guns N’ Roses will be performing at the Power Trip Festival in Indio, California, alongside AC/DC, Iron Maiden, and Metallica, in October.
