Ray Stevenson, An Actor, Has Passed Away At The Age Of 58

Ray Stevenson, 58, has passed away.

His most notable roles were in Punisher: War Zone and the TV series Rome.

His representative verified the news to Variety.

Nicki Fioravante, the actor’s publicist, confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Sunday that the Northern Irish actor had passed away.

His breakthrough performance in film came in the 2004 adventure thriller King Arthur, directed by Antoine Fuqua.

He played Dagonet, one of the Round Table’s nobles.

In 2008’s Punisher: War Zone, he played the title character, the mercenary Frank Castle, and in the Thor films he played Volstagg.

Stevenson has recently been seen in the action film RRR and in the crime film Memory, in which he co-starred with Liam Neeson.

In the new Star Wars show, he plays the villainous Ahsoka.

In an April public appearance at Star Wars Celebration, he said, “Getting to wield the light saber is just the best feeling in the world.”

“When they gave it to me for the first time for the camera test, I couldn’t help but make the noise.”

Social media has been flooded with tributes, including one tweet reading, “RIP great.

I’ll always defend Punisher: Warzone as an excellent action comedy that got short shrift from audiences.

Added another, “Damn. He was the show-stealer in Dexter’s seventh season. RIP.”

Rest in peace, a genuine icon. A third person simply sent their “deepest condolences” to the deceased’s loved ones.

One more voice chimed in, “Really sorry to hear it. In Rome, he blew everyone away as Titus Pullo.

His performance in the TV series Rome will go down in history. “May his soul be at peace,” another added.

The actor spoke with backstage.com about his audition process.

When asked about the performer he had met in L.A., he responded, “She said, ‘I’d want to go over this audition piece.’ She asks, “Do I have to learn it?” as I begin to review it with her. When I saw her expression, my heart fell; I couldn’t understand why she wouldn’t want to. For three to four minutes, you get to pretend to be someone else.

Why don’t you take pleasure in studying it and following the director’s cues? So, how should I get ready? The only way to get it is to read and play the thing. You need to leave yourself up to interpretation, but you also need to know what the scene is about since you never know who may be reading or acting with you.
