After being suspended by the Memphis Grizzlies for displaying another pistol on Instagram Live, Ja Morant delivered a statement.

“I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me,” Morant told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski in a statement. “This is a journey, and I recognize that there is still work to be done.” My words may not mean much right now, but I accept complete responsibility for my actions. I’m determined to keep improving myself.”

In an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews prior to the NBA Draft lottery, league commissioner Adam Silver expressed his thoughts on the Ja Morant news from the weekend.

The Memphis Grizzlies have already suspended Morant from team activities, but further problems are expected for the talented guard.

Silver claimed during the conversation that he was “shocked.”

“Honestly, I was shocked when I saw that video this weekend,” Silver remarked. “Right now, we’re investigating it, and we’ll figure out exactly what happened to the best of our abilities.” The video is a little blurry and all, but I’m expecting the worse.”

Following Morant’s first tournament, Silver issued an eight-game penalty and spoke with him. Silver disclosed more of his dialogue at the time in his interview on Tuesday (May 16). “To be honest, the majority of our conversation was about how serious the first incident of waving a firearm on social media was.”
