Three NYPD officers have been charged with felony theft for allegedly removing bottles of JAY-Z’s Ace of Spades champagne from Electric Zoo in September 2022.

Officers Jonathan Gonzalez and Wojciech Czech are charged with fourth-degree grand theft and criminal possession of stolen property, respectively. Gonzalez and Officer Warren Golden are also charged with official malfeasance.

At Electric Zoo, the three detectives were in control of narcotics. They observed three VIP guests purchasing bottles of Ace of Spades. When the group separated for a moment, the officers stole flasks worth $2,900. The attendees noted the missing bottles and notified festival security of the theft.

Forbes speculates on Ace Of Spades earnings for Jay-Z.

Alvin Bragg Conducts a Press Conference.

“In addition to the alleged theft that occurred, none of the Officers working at the event stepped up and stopped this activity,” Bragg said in a statement. “Public confidence in the criminal justice system depends on members of law enforcement acting with the utmost integrity while on duty and following the same rules that apply to everyone else.”

“As a result of a continuing joint investigation with the Internal Affairs Bureau and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, two NYPD officers were arrested and subsequently suspended from duty today,” the NYPD told Billboard. “The NYPD will continue to pursue the facts in this investigation and impose additional discipline as necessary.” It is unknown which two detectives were apprehended.”

In 2014, JAY-Z and LVMH jointly acquired the French champagne brand Armand de Brignac, also known as Armand de Champagne. In 2019, the Brooklyn rapper became hip-hop’s first billionaire. After Kanye West’s recent departure from Adidas, JAY-Z is the only rapper worth a billion dollars as of 2023.
