When it comes to sobriety, many celebrities are willing to discussing their journeys, and their candor can help fans who are going through similar difficulties.

Tom Holland of Spider-Man: No Way Home recently revealed he’d been sober for over a year, and now Rob Lowe has revealed his own significant news. The 9-1-1: Lone Star actor celebrated 33 years of clean living, and several of his Hollywood peers left encouraging words.

In an Instagram post commemorating 33 years of recovery, Rob Lowe expressed gratitude for where he is in life and sent a message for anyone who may be battling with addiction. He wrote:

His statements appear to imply that the previous three decades have not been easy, but the actor stated that overcoming addiction is possible “if you want it, and are willing to work for it.” Every year (and even every day) is deserving of recognition for someone fighting this kind of war, which makes Rob Lowe’s ability to sustain a sober lifestyle for so long all the more commendable.

The West Wing alum’s celebrity friends and co-stars were quick to send their wishes. Kate Walsh received cheers, Kristin Chenoweth added a pair of heart emojis, and Mario Lopez added multiple fire emojis. Others have said:

John Owen Lowe, who co-stars with his father on Unstable and is a writer on 9-1-1: Lone Star, is renowned for viciously teasing his father on social media, and he didn’t disappoint here, adding the hilarious comment:

I’m proud of your recovery, yet I have mixed feelings about this selfie.

Rob Lowe’s big milestone comes just a few days after Tom Holland declared he’d been sober for a year. While the Marvel actor did not elaborate on what drove him to become a teetotaler, he did discuss his new Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room, and how it affected the way he treated his mental health.

The responses on Rob Lowe’s Instagram post show that his coming out about his sobriety matters a lot to others who are facing their own problems with substance abuse or have loved ones who are. Our best wishes go out to the actor and all those on the road to recovery. Lowe can be seen on 9-1-1: Lone Star, whose Season 4 finale airs Tuesday, May 16, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, and be sure to check out our 2023 TV schedule to see what premieres are coming up soon.
