Blazer, Laser, and Blade. The Empire podcast team will always remember the Ben Stiller Dodgeball line, but if the long-rumored (and occasionally gestating) sequel finally hits theaters, it seems they might have more options.

It’s still in development, according to Deadline, with Jordan VanDina penning the script and Vince Vaughn returning to play Peter La Fleur.

In the 2004 original, White Goodman’s (Stiller) enormous firm was threatening to acquire La Fleur’s Average Joes gym, which was experiencing financial difficulties. La Fleur enters a team of losers in a major dodgeball match, under the guidance of famed player Patches “if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball” O’Houlihan (Rip Torn), in an effort to raise the money required to stay in business. As the name says, get ready for a true underdog narrative as well as a barrage of memorable quotes and funny slapstick.

Rawson The unexpected hit was written and directed by Marshall Thurber, but he doesn’t appear to be engaged with this one just yet. He also seems to be busy with more Red Notice and his next Dungeons & Dragons series. We now wait to see if the new movie will go further than this one or this one because Vaughn reportedly came up with the idea himself.
