Omarion will have a scripted TV show that is loosely based on his life.

The former singer of B2K is appearing as OB Sharp in the new series Involved, which is being produced by AMC Networks streamer AllBlk. He is recognized as the series’ executive producer and co-creator as well.

“Involved is intended to inspire, transform, and impact the culture of American society’s thinking and understanding of unique family relationships, just like multi-hyphenated superstars Jamie Foxx, Martin Lawrence, and Will Smith who have all influenced and inspired me and a whole culture. Omarion, 38, said in a statement that there is no better method for us to observe and learn about these cultural differences than through entertainment.

Involved, according to Deadline, centers on Sharp, a boyband success since he was a young child, who now wants to leave his band in order to devote his time to being a hands-on father for his daughter, Cammy, and to establish a better coparenting relationship just as the group is about to embark on a global tour. Sharp’s best friend, Maya, a woman who is openly bisexual, is the only one who has ever fully understood Sharp and his way of life.

Until they met Edy, an eccentric flower shop owner with a free spirit and flexible lifestyle, they had always shared an intimate bond without ever being physically intimate. As a result, they formed a trio. Shayla Williams, the mother of his kid, and her current lover, a struggling rapper, both reside in his guesthouse, which complicates matters. The description reads, “OB Sharp is adjusting to new normals within himself, relationship and family dynamics, and new business ventures. Faced with a multitude of changes in a short period of time.”

Interested parties have till April 30 to submit their audition tapes. By May 15, finalists will be decided. Williams’ last casting call will take held in Miami from June 14–18 as part of the 2023 American Black Film Festival.

As co-showrunners, Kevin G. Boyd and Bentley Kyle Evans will also direct and write the pilot. Together with AllBlk’s general manager, Brett Dismuke, and SVP of Development & Production, Nikki Love, Michelle Le Fleur will executive produce the project.

“Omarion is an expert storyteller across multiple mediums, and we could not be more excited to further our partnership by helping him bring this story to life on AllBlk,” Dismuke said in reference to the new collaboration. As a pioneer in producing content with Black voices, we are confident that our audience will find this narrative engaging and compelling.

The series’ debut date has not yet been made public by AllBlk. Fans can catch the Omega star in the newest season of A Black Lady Sketch Show in the interim.
