Granger Smith, a country music performer, has said that he is switching to a different line of work.
The “Backroad Song” singer informed fans that he was entering the ministry, therefore his next “Like a River” tour would be his final performance.
He posted on Instagram on Tuesday, saying, “I just want to glorify God the greatest way that I can. “I want to acquire knowledge, develop, and serve my local church while letting my pastors support and encourage those coming stages. If the Lord wills, I want to be used to assist others in discovering their mission.
Smith has had a great music career for 24 years, but he claims he is now prepared to retire because of a “strong desire to pursue ministry.”
He stated that he will serve his church, which is located just outside of Austin, Texas, but added, “This doesn’t mean I’m going to create a church, a crusade, or a revival.
The native Texan claimed that after reading Mark 8 in the Bible, he made the decision to join a ministry.
Smith stated that this “form of self-denial is something I’m just not doing” and that “Jesus says if anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”

And country music, because when I’m on stage, I just need to be glorified and praised. And if I don’t get it, my career will suffer as a result. I would thus put in more effort to achieve that. You see, I can’t make sense of those two things. I simply cannot.
According to him, “this is a new passion, a new focus, and a new direction that I believe will allow me to focus more on specific people and their lives.”
Which is ultimately the reason I initially began my music tour. In that sense, this position is even more micro-focused. I have no plans to leave.
The announcement comes almost four years after the terrible drowning death of River Smith, Smith’s 3-year-old son.
The “Like a River” tour, which bears Smith’s son’s name, will begin on Thursday in Wisconsin and run through August 26.
In 2016, Smith’s “Backroad Song” peaked at No. 49 and spent 16 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
