With a larger selection of Lionsgate programming, MGM will relaunch its international streamer as MGM+ International.

The service, which was previously offered on Prime Video Channels as MGM, will restart in important European nations including Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and The Netherlands under the US name MGM+ for the Amazon-owned business.

A content agreement with Lionsgate, MGM’s former co-parent company, has strengthened MGM+ International and will grant subscribers free access to a number of high-quality Starz and Lionsgate TV programs and movies, including the Power franchise, Black Sails, Black Mafia Family, and Mad Men. The monthly cost of MGM+ International is €3.99 (£3.50).

Lionsgate+ subscribers who joined up via Channels will now also have access to MGM+, and Amazon Prime subscribers can sign up for MGM+ International as a bolt-on via Prime Video Channels.

According to Chris Brearton, vice-president of Prime Video Studios Corporate Strategy, “we have seen significant growth in subscribers following the relaunch of MGM+ in the US at the beginning of the year.”

In order to capitalize on the strength of the iconic brand and hasten our development as a premium international SVoD service, MGM’s international streaming services will now follow suit and relaunch as MGM+ International in key countries where we are making additional content investments.

“Our strategic partnership with Lionsgate signifies Amazon’s continued dedication to the MGM+ brand. The extensive library of MGM films already accessible on the service in Europe will be augmented by the recently acquired suite of Lionsgate programming.
