Jonah Hill, who is establishing a successful directorial career, and Keanu Reeves, who is enjoying great success after the hugely successful John Wick: Chapter 4 movie, are collaborating on a grim Hollywood tale.

Outcome, a dark comedy that Hill will direct and co-write with Ezra Woods, has been taken up by Apple Original Films.

Reeves is currently negotiating to appear in the lead role of the movie alongside Hill.

Reeves will play Reef in Outcome, a damaged Hollywood star who is forced to face his demons and atone for his transgressions after being threatened with a mysterious video clip from his past.

Hill, who is obviously no amateur, will also collaborate on the production of Outcome with Ali Goodwin from the company’s Strong Baby banner and his collaborator Matt Dines. Apple Studios will produce the movie.

Outcome, which debuted as a popular package in November, finds a home as a result of the transaction. The project was chosen in a cutthroat environment, but the amount of time it took to close a deal demonstrates how competitive the market is right now for expensive packages, even those with A-list talent. Filmmakers, actors, and their agents are learning that the buyers are becoming more selective and demanding when making purchases.

Reeves’ current professional zenith does assist. Wick 4 had one of Reeves’ best opening weekends in his acting career, grossing $73.5 million domestically and breaking the franchise record. After only 12 days on the market, the film has already earned more than $247 million worldwide.

As it continues to fill its movie portfolio with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, Outcome keeps Apple in the Hill game.

With Martin Scorsese’s Sikelia Productions, Hill and Apple Original Films are working on a Grateful Dead biopic that will be directed by Scorsese and star Hill as well as Dines and Goodwin as producers under the Strong Baby banner.

The Netflix sitcom You People, starring Hill, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eddie Murphy, and Lauren London, was most recently made by Strong Baby. With the well-received coming-of-age drama Mid90s, Hill, who is best known for his comedies and his Oscar-nominated turn in Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, made his feature directorial debut. He then presented Stutz, a highly acclaimed documentary from 2022 that addressed mental health issues.

With its drama CODA, Apple made history by becoming the first streaming service to receive a best picture award last year. This year, two big releases are scheduled to arrive. Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese and featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and newcomer Lily Gladstone, will be released in October. Napoleon, a historical epic directed by Ridley Scott and featuring Joaquin Phoenix, will be made available in November. Before launching on the Apple network, both are receiving theatrical releases. Ghosted, a high-concept romantic action adventure film featuring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, will be released by Apple on April 21.

Hill and Strong Baby are repped by WME, LBI, and Yorn Levine. Reeves is repped by WME, SUGAR23 and Ziffren.
