According to Brian “B. Dot” Miller, Vince Staples is one of the “smartest” and “most creative rappers” in the business right now in JAY-Z’s opinion.

During Miller’s recent appearance on Rap Radar with Elliott Wilson, the Ramona Park Broke My Heart rapper shared the renowned rapper’s admiration for Staples.

To be completely honest with you, B. Dot started. “JAY-Z informed me about your album and introduced me to it. He described it as “beautiful.” He referred to you as one of the brightest, most inventive rappers currently active in the scene. Staples didn’t seem to be phased by the compliment from one of the best rappers of all time.

He gave the following explanation as to why he was unmoved: “If I’m impartial to whether people like it, I’m for certainly impartial if you don’t. Everyone has the right to express their views, in my opinion. People are free to express their opinions once something has been released into the world or placed up for sale. I don’t really do it for that reason. To be completely honest, I don’t really care how anybody feels about anything. I admire their attention, but that’s about all I can say about how people feel.

Ramona Park Broke My Heart, released by Staples in April 2022, opened at No. 21 on the Billboard 200. The album received a lot of positive feedback from both reviewers and listeners. It includes cameos from Lil Baby, Ty Dolla Sign, and other artists.

In recent years, Staples has also expanded his work outside of music. He joined the ensemble of the upcoming remake of White Men Can’t Jump last year. He was then included in the ensemble announcement for the upcoming Showtime series The Wood just earlier this month. “Jamal, an aspiring photographer from Ladera Heights, is cut off by his upper-class family when he decides to follow his own path instead of going to historic Morehouse College,” according to a Variety description of the program.
