The Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix, has returned to the streets of New York.

Phoenix, 48, was seen shooting scenes for the upcoming movie Joker: Folie à Deux on Wednesday in the Bronx, where he made an appearance on a sidewalk in a gray suit and his character’s faded makeup.

Phoenix, who won an Oscar for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, aka the Joker, in the 2019 movie Joker, was earlier seen filming on March 4 in downtown Los Angeles while donning a costume very similar to that one.

The actor was seen running down the street in a series of pictures that were published at the time, along with a guy who was dressed like the Joker in a red-and-yellow suit, a full clown face, and green hair.

Lady Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, was observed on set in New York City last weekend while filming a scene with a large group of extras at City Hall.

On Valentine’s Day in February, Gaga, 36, unveiled an official first look picture from the upcoming film, showing the actress and Phoenix just after a passionate kiss, with her red lipstick all over his face.

The Joker first encountered Harley Quinn, also known as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, when she worked as his psychiatrist at Gotham City’s Arkham Asylum. Gaga portrays Harley Quinn.

The sequel will be produced by Todd Phillips, who also helmed Joker. While the plot’s specifics are still unknown, the expression Folie à Deux refers to a delusion or mental disease that two people share, implying that Harley and the Joker may be up to mischief together.

In December, the filmmaker published a first-look image of Phoenix from the upcoming film. The image depicted Fleck, a Phoenix character, shaving while standing behind a sink at Arkham Asylum.

“Day 1. Our boy. #joker,” Phillips wrote in the image’s description.

Joker: The movie Folie à Deux is scheduled for publication on October 4, 2024.
