Matt Cameron Of Pearl Jam Has Denied Joining The Foo Fighters

Matt Cameron of Pearl Jam has refuted rumors that he is preparing to take over for the Foo Fighters’ late percussionist Taylor Hawkins.

The Pearl Jam drummer dispelled a recent The Sun report that claimed he would take Hawkins’ position on the group’s upcoming tour in a Saturday Instagram Story.

FYI the online rumors are false, I haven’t joined the Foos, Cameron merely stated in his post.

According to The Sun, Atom Willard, the erstwhile drummer for Angels & Airwaves, and Cameron have both been practicing in anticipation of the Foo Fighters tour. Willard has not yet responded to the rumors.

In Bogotá, Colombia, Hawkins passed away on March 25, 2022, at the age of 50. The Foo Fighters revealed a North American tour almost a year later, and it kicks off on May 24 in Gilford, New Hampshire.

At a Los Angeles memorial performance for the late drummer in September of last year, Cameron performed alongside the remaining Foo Fighters band members.

On New Year’s Eve, the My Hero hitmakers tweeted to their followers that, in the wake of Hawkins’ passing, they would be “a different band going forward.”

According to their statement, “Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were.” We also know that Taylor loved his followers just as much as you did him. And when we do see you again, which is shortly, we are confident that he will spend every night with us in spirit.
