A California Mother Had A Bad Feeling Her Daughter Had Been Harmed, So She Went To Her Ex's House And Discovered Her Daughter Had Been Murdered

According to ABC7, an arrest has been made in connection with the murder of a California lady whose mother discovered her dead after sensing “something was wrong.”

A press statement from the Anaheim Police Department stated that 36-year-old Aaron Romo was detained last week on a murder charge. He is charged with the murder of his ex-girlfriend, La Palma resident Mirelle Mateus, 24.

Although the cause of Mateus’ death was not immediately disclosed, authorities do think she was murdered.

Police said they were summoned to an Anaheim apartment in the afternoon of March 17 and discovered the victim dead there.

Alice Mateus, Mateus’ mother, told ABC7 that after visiting her daughter’s ex-boyfriend’s house after getting the unsettling sensation that something had happened to her, she found the horrific evidence.

I discovered her dead in the restroom, she claimed, according to the outlet. “Police were not involved. The system let me down.

Romo was immediately recognized as a suspect and arrested, and is currently being held without bail at the Anaheim Police Department Detention Facility. It is unclear at this time whether he has submitted a plea or hired a lawyer to represent him.

Investigators are urging any additional possible victims to come forward because they think Romo has previously abused other women. According to the press release, the police department refused to “expand on evidence or to discuss possible motives.”

According to court documents cited by Fox11, Romo was accused in December with two felonies—corporal harm to a spouse or cohabitant and false imprisonment—as well as misdemeanor charges of battery and resisting arrest. He was detained and released on bail, according to the source.

If Romo had pleaded guilty to those counts was unclear at the time.
