The new EP SWARM from Donald Glover/Childish Gambino includes original music that was influenced by the same-named Amazon Prime Video series.

The six-track EP features music by Ni’jah, the fictitious performer who appears in the show and is voiced by KIRBY, as well as never-before-heard material from Gambino. Glover said in a statement that KIRBY “was able to elevate and amplify every moment she was a part of” because of her versatile sound and songwriting skills. It was a pleasure working together to bring this tale to life acoustically, and I couldn’t have imagined how it would sound without her contribution.

KIRBY continued, “I fell in love with the thought of becoming the ‘Ni’jah’ figure. How would she respond to this situation? What voice would she have? Going in and writing and singing without any restrictions was freeing. There are those who are referred to as geniuses and those who actually are. After collaborating with Donald, Michael, Fam, and Riley, I genuinely recognize the distinction.

Glover and Janine Nabers co-wrote and executive produced the film SWARM, which also stars Dominique Fishback, Damson Idris, Chloe Bailey, and others. The Prime Video series centers on Dre, a character played by Fishback who is “an obsessed fan of the biggest pop star in the world who embarks on an unexpected cross-country journey.”
