Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson Reunite For Apple Comedy Series From David West Read

The original True Detective ensemble is reuniting thanks to Apple.

The Big Door Prize author and showrunner David West Read will produce a half-hour comedy series for the streamer with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as the lead actors.

A love triangle centered on the couple’s “strange and beautiful bond” is presented in the unnamed television series. Their friendship will be “put to the test when their combined families attempt to live together on Matthew’s ranch in Texas,” according to the television show.

In the 2014 release of the first season of HBO’s True Detective, McConaughey and Harrelson co-starred. However, the two have been pals for a long time and have worked together on several occasions, including Welcome to Hollywood in 1998, EDtv in 1999, and Surfer Dude in 2008.

They frequently take trips together, which have been referred to as “friendship tours,” like the trip to Dubrovnik they took last year to honor Harrelson’s birthday, where they went paddleboarding together.

The comedy series The Big Door Prize, which will premiere on Apple later this month and stars Chris O’Dowd, is created by Skydance Television along with Foundation.

Along with McConaughey and Harrelson, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Matt Thunell, Bill Bost, and Jeremy Plager will executive produce the film. West Read was also a writer and executive producer on Schitt’s Creek.
