Instead of being pushed about the 2023 Oscars, Spike Lee and Denzel Washington attended the New York Knicks-Los Angeles Lakers game.

The Knicks and Lakers met on Sunday, March 12, at Crypto.com Arena, which is close to the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where the biggest names in cinema gathered for the 2019 Academy Awards.

Lee, 65, and Washington, 68, were seen cheering on the Knickerbockers as they battled the purple and gold on the floor, demonstrating that they had no trouble choosing between the two events.

Ruth E. Carter became the first Black woman to receive two Oscars when she won her second trophy for Best Costume Design at the Oscars, which were hosted by Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.

In addition, Jamie Lee Curtis won her first Academy Award by defeating Angela Bassett for Best Actress in a Supporting Performance. Along with these Academy Award triumphs, Rihanna performed “Lift Me Up,” the song for which she was nominated while paying tribute to the late, great Chadwick Boseman.
