Playboi Carti Has Been Charged With Felony Assault

Late last year, Playboi Carti was detained on suspicion of felony aggravated assault.

According to TMZ editors, the 26-year-old rapper, real name Jordan Carter, was detained in Georgia in December after an argument over a paternity test and was accused of choking his pregnant fiancée.

The unnamed woman allegedly admitted to the arrest affidavit that she and Carti got into a physical struggle after their chat regarding a paternity test devolved into an argument.

She allegedly raced to her car, where Carti attempted to extricate her while she called the police using the SOS function on the car. She had apparent bruises to her neck, chest, and back when police arrived on the scene, according to them.

At the time, the woman disclosed to them that she had been seeing Carti for two years and was 14 weeks pregnant.

In a statement to the site, Carti’s lawyer, Brian Steel, stated that his client had been “falsely charged.”

According to our conversations, the Fulton County District Attorney’s office will not pursue legal action or prosecute this matter, he said.

The rapper from Magnolia previously dated Blac Chyna and Iggy Azalea, with whom he has a son named Onyx who is two years old.
