A number of well-known actors have transitioned from the silver screen to television in recent years, with Meryl Streep joining Big Little Lies and Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in the Yellowstone spinoff, 1923.

Nicole Kidman just revealed that she would be appearing in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming series Lioness, but that isn’t the only one she’s joining. According to a recent rumor from Deadline, Kidman will collaborate with Jamie Lee Curtis, who starred in Halloween and Everything Everywhere All At Once, on a new Prime Video series based on Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels.

According to the rumor, Kidman would portray renowned forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta, and Curtis will play Dorothy, Kay’s sister. Kidman and Curtis are also executive producing the movie through Blossom Films and Comet Pictures, in addition to Blumhouse Television. The show’s showrunner will be Liz Sarnoff (Barry), and a two-season straight-to-series order is reportedly imminent. The rights to the book series, which began with Postmortem in 1990 and has since continued with 26 volumes total, including Livid from last year, were acquired by Curtis’ Comet Pictures and Blumhouse Television back in 2021.

When the book deal was revealed, Curtis stated of Patricia Cornwell, “She is a bona fide literary trailblazer, and working with her to bring her beloved character Kay Scarpetta to life through the force of television and to introduce her to a completely new audience is exhilarating.” The collaboration between Blumhouse and Comet, led by the intelligent, seductive, and unstoppable Kay Scarpetta, is going to be an exciting ride that vividly depicts a dark, entertaining, and complex work and family life.
