Kim Kardashian’s jewelry collection has just become much more regal.

The diamond-encrusted amethyst Attallah cross pendant, famously worn by Princess Diana, was purchased by the SKIMS mogul, 42, on Wednesday at Sotheby’s annual Royal & Noble auction.

The Kardashians star bid on the piece, which has square-cut amethysts accented by circular-cut diamonds weighing 5.25 carats, and won it for $197,453 in the final five minutes. According to Sotheby’s, this was “double its pre-auction estimate.”

“By its size, color, and style, this is a bold piece of jewelry that cannot fail to make a vibrant statement, whether of faith or fashion — or indeed both,” Sotheby London’s Head of Jewelry, Kristian Spofforth, said in a statement. “We are thrilled that this piece has found new life in the hands of another globally renowned name.”

According to sources, Kim is honored to own a fine piece of jewelry once worn by the late Princess Diana. The lovely cross pendant will be added to Kim’s growing jewelry collection, which includes pieces worn or owned by strong, iconic women who have inspired her.

The late Princess of Wales wore the pendant several times, the most significant one being the 1987 London charity gala for Birthright, which benefited the group’s humanitarian work for women and girls going through pregnancy and childbirth.

She accessorized her royal purple Victorian velvet dress by Catherine Walker with the jeweled pendant with flower details and a long pearl chain.

A news release from Sotheby’s stated that the ornament has a long history dating back to court jewelers Garrard, who created the unique necklace in the 1920s. Later, in the 1980s, it was purchased by the late Naim Attallah CBE, the former group chief executive of Asprey & Garrard who frequently lent Princess Diana the unique jewel. The cross, according to the Sotheby’s statement, was only ever worn by the Princess, and it hasn’t been seen in public since her passing until now.

The group also mentions Princess Diana’s personal friendship with the jeweler, a connection so strong that in 1981, she chose the jeweler’s store to purchase her engagement ring.

Kardashian has previously attracted attention for recycling pop culture memorabilia.

She made headlines last May when she appeared at the 2022 Met Gala wearing the exact same crystal-encrusted Jean Louis gown that Marilyn Monroe wore when she serenaded JFK on his birthday in 1962.

The famous champagne-colored silk soufflé dress, which was taken from the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum in Orlando, Florida, had a scoop neckline and a figure-hugging design.

In an effort to resemble the Hollywood star, Kardashian went to considerable lengths, bleaching her hair platinum blonde for “14 hours straight” and following a no-carb, no-sugar diet.

Kardashian compared the transformation to an actor rehearsing for an on-screen role, telling the New York Times: “Even though I got flack for my weight loss and for wearing the iconic, delicate garment in the first place, I still feel like an actor.” “Even Renée Zellweger put on weight for a role, so I thought, “OK, Christian Bale can do it for a movie role and that is acceptable. To me, it’s all the same.”
