On Wednesday, Tory Lanez declined to give a witness statement in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial.

The 30-year-old, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is accused of shooting Megan in both feet in July 2020 and is charged with assault with a semiautomatic weapon, carrying a loaded, unlicensed firearm in a vehicle, and firing a firearm carelessly.

When asked by Judge David V. Herriford on Wednesday if he would be testifying as a witness in his own defense at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Lanez responded, “I will not testify.”

Jaquan Smith, his driver, who was present the night of the incident and was scheduled to testify, decided not to on Wednesday.

The trial was postponed until after Christmas due to procedural concerns and the possibility of delays, according to Lanez’s lawyer George Mgdesyan, who told Billboard he had wanted Smith to testify.

The Hot Girl Summer singer allegedly fled the car they were traveling in after an argument, and the artist is accused of shooting her multiple times in the foot while saying “Dance, b**ch!”

Earlier in the trial, Megan and Kelsey Harris, who was also in the car, gave testimony for the prosecution.

On Wednesday, the defense rested its case, and the deputy district attorney, Alexander Bott, started the closing arguments by reminding the jury of the rapper’s moving testimony.

Megan’s testimony at trial was difficult, he admitted, according to Billboard. “She said, “I like to present like I’m strong, but I’m really trying.” She added, “I’m having a really difficult time sitting up here and comfortably telling my story because not only do I have to sit across from Tory and I have to sit next to a group of people who have been continuously spreading misinformation, making me look like a bad person.” I dislike appearing frail.”

The defense’s final statement was then made by Megan, who advanced the idea that Harris, not Lanez, was the shooter.

On Thursday, his final remarks will come to an end, and the jury will then start deliberating.
