More information about the impending Luther movie is being released by Netflix.
Luther: The Fallen Sun, the movie’s official title, and its March release date were announced by the streaming service on Wednesday.
Luther: The Fallen Sun is a follow-up to the BBC One television series Luther, which ran for five seasons. Released in January 2019 was Season 5.
The new movie is written by Neil Cross, the man behind Luther, and is helmed by Jamie Payne, the man behind Season 5. Idris Elba returns to the character of Detective Chief Inspector John Luther, a clever individual who is not afraid to break the law and travel down perilous avenues while carrying out his duties.
Along with Cynthia Erivo and Andy Serkis joining the cast, Dermot Crowley will also reprise his role as DSU Martin Schenk.
Luther: The Fallen Sun begins after Luther’s arrest in Season 5, according to Elba in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
The actor claimed, “He’s done so much to break the rules to find the evil guys that he’s ended himself in jail.” “Thus, it is where the story begins. He is thinking about what he wants to do with his life.”
He said, “Luther is just so haunted; that’s his whole thing. “He can’t help but chase it, chase the ghosts that enter his thoughts, even if he is a free man. That, in my opinion, is what motivates him in this movie. He is simply deeply troubled by the things he has done, the things he could have done, and the deaths of people.”
The project was revealed by Netflix in September 2021.
