FIFA and UEFA have issued a warning to the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) that they risk being suspended internationally.

They are preparing a meeting where they hope to install Andriy Shevchenko, 46, the nation’s all-time greatest player, in lieu of current UAF President Andriy Pavelko.

Throughout his illustrious career, which included stops at Chelsea and AC Milan among others, Shevchenko scored 48 goals in 111 appearances for Ukraine at the international level.

The warning was issued by the regulatory organizations of soccer, according to UAF Vice-President Oleg Protasov, who published it on his Facebook page.

Concern has been voiced by FIFA and UEFA regarding potential pressure being used to some UAF members before to the conference.

Allegations have been made that it is a Russian plot to “kill Ukrainian football,” and there are concerns that the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) may be complicit.

Protasov stated in his Facebook post: “In a letter to the vice presidents of the UAF, FIFA and UEFA remind them that the Ukrainian Association should conduct its business independently of other parties.

According to Art. 16 of the FIFA Statute and Art. 9 of the UEFA Statute, “Any infringement of this responsibility may result in the suspension of the UAF’s membership in FIFA and UEFA.”

Protasov went on: “I’d like to remind you that the [UFA] Executive Committee earlier sent an action plan to every member detailing how to convene a virtual meeting of the UAF Executive Committee to discuss mistrust and the ousting of the Ukrainian Association’s leadership.

“Prior to that, six regional football association presidents wrote protocols for holding the UAF Congress in those presidents’ offices while the SBU kept watch over proceedings.

The Ministry of Justice will be involved before the authorities fully intervene in football problems, according to new information I obtained today.
