Kate Hudson intends to release her first album in 2023.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday night, the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days actress discussed her new venture.

“I enjoy singing,” Kate told Jimmy. “I just feel strange saying it… No, I’ve been setting records for over a year.”

In January, she performed a cover of Ariana Grande’s 7 Rings during Jimmy’s That’s My Jam segment on the late-night show.

She went on to tell the comedian that during the Covid-19 pandemic, she decided to pursue her passion for music more professionally.

“In Covid, I had this thing. People always ask you in interviews, ‘Do you have any regrets?’ ‘Oh, I’m in my early 40s, not yet,’ I think.” Kate elaborated. “But during Covid, I wondered, “What am I doing?” I’ve been writing music since I was 19 years old. And I’ve never told anyone about it. That was one of my biggest regrets, I thought. I don’t have any expectations. I just want to make a record, so I’m doing it.”

Kate Hudson, the daughter of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson, isn’t the first Kate Hudson to try her hand at music; Katy Perry’s real last name is Hudson, but she changed her stage name to avoid confusion with the actress.
