A star of Drop Dead Gorgeous and Cheers, Kirstie Alley, has passed away. She was 71.

True and Lillie Parker, Alley’s children, said that the actress had passed away from cancer. True and Lillie revealed to a source that Alley passed away on Monday.

In a statement, they stated, “We are heartbroken to inform you that our wonderful, fierce, and loving mother has passed away following a struggle with cancer, which was just recently detected.”

They said, “She fought valiantly while surrounded by her closest family, leaving us with no doubt about her unending enthusiasm of life and whatever adventures lay ahead. As well-known off the screen as she was on it, she was an even better mother and grandmother.

The siblings reflected on their mother’s “unparalleled enthusiasm and passion for life, her children, grandchildren, and her numerous animals, not to mention her unending joy of creating, leave us encouraged to live life to the fullest just as she did.”

The Moffitt Cancer Center’s “amazing team of doctors and nurses” were also praised.

In closing, True and Lillie thank Alley’s supporters and ask that they respect their privacy during this trying time. “We appreciate you for your love and prayers,” they say.

Alley’s Instagram page also posted the statement.

Following the announcement, John Travolta, Alley’s friend and former co-star, paid the actress tribute on social media.

“One of the most unique relationships I’ve ever had was with Kirstie. I cherish you, Kirstie “A photo of the deceased actress was also posted by him. “I’m confident that we’ll cross paths again.”

“Oh Kirstie, Rest in Peace,” Valerie Bertinelli wrote on Twitter as she sent her sympathies.

Alley’s most recent Instagram video was published in September, the same month she announced she would be joining Cameo and inviting her followers to send her “funny or heartfelt” notes. Since then, her Cameo page has been deleted.

When Alley played Rebecca Howe on NBC’s Cheers, she shot to prominence. For her performance in the Boston-based series in 1991, she won the Golden Globe for best actress and the Emmy for outstanding lead actress.

In 1994, she went on to win her second Emmy for the role of Sally Goodson in David’s Mother.

Additionally, Alley acted in movies like Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Summer School (1987), Look Who’s Talking (1989), It Takes Two (1995), and Drop Dead Gorgeous. She also appeared on television shows like Veronica’s Closet (1997–2000), Fat Actress (2005), Kirstie (2013–2014), and Scream Queens (2015–2016). (1999).

Her life was documented in 2010 in the A&E reality television program Kirstie Alley’s Big Life. Additionally, she participated in seasons 7 of The Masked Singer in 2022 and 12 of Dancing with the Stars in 2011.
