The late Notorious B.I.G. will play at a virtual reality concert, according to a meta announcement. A press statement states that on December 16 at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET, the platform will host “The Notorious B.I.G. Sky’s The Limit: A VR Concert Experience.”
Only Meta Horizon Worlds and Meta Quest TV, which are accessible through Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro, will stream this event. The official Facebook page of The Notorious B.I.G. will host a 2D version of the show.
In what a press release refers to as a true-to-life hyper-realistic avatar form, the Brooklyn rap icon is brought to life throughout the event. The Lox, Latto, Nardo Wick, Lil’ Cease, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and DJ Clark Kent are among additional performers.
The American author and music journalist Touré also created a narrative journey that allows viewers to follow a day in Biggie’s life.
“Biggie’s music has been streamed more than 6.5 billion times in the US alone and over 11 billion times overall, but due to his untimely passing, there wasn’t enough new material to satisfy the astronomical demand for his music. This is the reason I came up with the concept and made the choice to develop a digital avatar,” said Elliot Osagie, the company’s creator, in a news statement. In collaboration with Hyperreal CEO and VFX director Remington Scott, Osagie led the creation of new technology.
Together, the aforementioned developers collaborated on the project alongside William Morris Endeavor, the estate representative for The Notorious B.I.G., Gunpowder & Sky, the studio in charge of the concert’s production, and Gunpowder & Sky.
“It’s sometimes difficult for me to understand how technology advancements can create a variety of new opportunities to showcase my son Christopher’s music, but I’ve found a great deal of excitement in creating his avatar and realizing the value added for fans to experience him in ways that weren’t previously possible.
