Takeoff, a member of the Migos, died early Tuesday after being shot in Houston. He was 28.

The Associated Press was informed by a representative of the news. The rapper was killed around 2:30 a.m. at a bowling alley after an altercation over a dice game. Takeoff, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was declared dead at the scene.

Lt. Christina Salazar of the Houston Police Department told NBC affiliate KPRC 2 that 40 to 50 people were at 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston when the shooting occurred, and that two other injured people were taken to nearby hospitals in private vehicles.

Police confirmed the presence of Takeoff, his uncle, and Migos groupmate Quavo, but did not immediately identify the deceased. Another source claims to have seen Quavo, real name Quavious Keyate Marshall, at the bowling alley attempting to move his injured nephew before putting him down and yelling for help.

According to the site, Quavo, 31, was not hurt. Quavo and Takeoff founded Migos with Offset, Quavo’s cousin, in 2008. Offset, whose real name is Kiari Kendrell Cephus and who is married to Cardi B, was not present during the fatal incident on Tuesday.

Fans of the Grammy-nominated rap group expressed their grief over Takeoff’s death on Twitter.

“Can’t imagine Migos without Takeoff and Quavo,” one Twitter user wrote. “Was family for…”

“RIP Takeoff,” said another. He never did anything but deliver hits and mind his own business. This isn’t right, man.”

Takeoff and Quavo discussed the possibility of continuing their careers without Offset earlier this month.

“I just feel like we want to pursue our careers as a team, you know what I mean?” Quavo stated on the podcast “Big Facts.”

“Because we just came from a loyal family… that’s supposed to stick together,” he explained in an interview with DJ Scream on Oct. 4. “When s-t doesn’t work out, it ain’t meant to be.”

“We don’t know all the answers,” Takeoff added. “Time will tell.”
